Does anyone have any advice for supplement recommendations for reducing the desire to snack on sweet stuff (mainly buscuits/cookies)? I could do with losing 5kg and not snacking on rubbish would make a huge difference. It would probably help my skin, too.
I’ll give a few:
- Chang your environment. Make it so these sorts of foods are not so easy to grab. Only purchase whole foods and healthy snacks to have in stock at home. Instead of forcing discipline to not grab that cookie you walk by every 5 seconds at home - just don’t have it there to begin with! Be smart and allow your brain to not have to be tempted all the time.
- Improving your dopamine levels through various means (healthier gut, higher protein and certain dopaminergic supplements) will make you less interested in seeking more short spikes of dopamine out. When your baseline levels are optimal the short term spikes are no longer craved as much.
- Chewing gum (get a good healthy form - not just the generic shit from the gas station). I found this little trick helpful in tricking my brain and using it almost like a fidget. Stopped me from compulsively wanting something in my mouth lol.
- Natural appetite suppressants. In the pharmaceutical world one of the known side affects of stimulants is that they suppress appetite - mimicking this through different supplements that raise dopamine and adrenaline may act similarly. Yerbe Mate and damiana come to mind.
Word of caution: Dopaminergic supplements when used a too high a dose will increase metabolic rate and can lead to higher levels of appetite. They also should be cycled in order to not cause potential receptor downregulation.
I am enjoying Berbelean by ND. Although I’ve only been taking it about a week so far.
Calocurb is a GLP-1 activating capsule supplement you can get off amazon (ozempic in a capsule). Also GLP-1s will stop it but you have to inject those, let me know if you want more info there. Last recommendation, don’t have snacks in the house, change your mindset to food is fuel and you eat it only during meal times (I realize thats a much harder change). In reality the best recommendation is to eat very satiating foods like meats, potatoes, fruits and vegetables.
Try keto, it’ll pass in two weeks max one month.
