Taurine supplementation may help with sarcopenia (age related muscle loss)

Here’s a really interesting study (though it was in vitro) that indicates that high levels of taurine modulate mechanisms which are known to be dysregulated in sarcopenia. This is another win for taurine which is my favourite amino acid. I’ve been taking it for several years now most days and I find it does help with anxiety.

I used to take about 5 gr of taurine per day, it helped me dramatically with my sleep issues.

But I dislike the idea, of using something for a longer period and/or higher dosis. For that reason I started to take magensium taurate supplement, I hope to benefit from getting both some extra magnesium (I have little magnesium in my diet) and taurine.

So far I am happy with this combi, and perhaps not rational but I prefer the idea of getting less of the isolated form of just taurine alone.
