My plan on trying to recover from anhedonia caused by Ashwagandha

Hello everyone, I’m 23yo and been trying to reverse the affects of ashwagandha that I took 3 years ago. Some of my symptoms are, anhedonia, low libido, brain fog, fatigue, memory problems and much more. I’ve read many forums about this topic yet no one seems to have a definite cure. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please do let me know. I’ve made a shortlist on what supplements/compounds that I’m planning on trying.

PEA

CBG oil

Rhodiola Rosea

St. John’s Wort ze117

Cyproheptadine

Bromantane

9ME-BC

ALCAR

Myo inositol

High dose thiamine

Zeolite

Clomid or TRT (last resort, I think Ashwagandha crashed my test levels I’m 440ng/dl)

Please feel free to give me feedback or any suggestions, I really want to solve this once and for all. Thank you

I would suggest starting this one first, as it has the least side effects and I think there is potential.

potentially have similar serotonin effect, so I would be very cautious about it

okay noted, any others you think that I can take along side Myo-inositol? SJW(ze117) perhaps? thank you

Yes I’ve been told this aswell, thank you for the heads up bro

When I used proviron, I felt my most alpha. Cognition improved, sex drive, pumps and overall mood. Its how I assume guys on TRT feel except it doesn’t build much muscle.

In terms of improving quality of life it may be worth a try.

Nice, just Proviron on its own without any TRT right? I also heard Clomid might help

Having experienced a great deal of anhedonia myself I highly suggest focusing on these big 3:
Gut: eliminate microbes that are in excess. If you can’t afford testing focus on symptoms. Common allergens - corn, soy, wheat, dairy, fibrous/starchy foods can all lead to higher serotonin levels due to feeding certain bacteria and raising endotoxin.

Androgens: I have really benefitted from using prohormones like Preg/DHEA as they can raise tissue levels of DHT and Testosterone - raising a overall metabolism and androgenic tone. I especially like them because they raise dopamine and adrenaline moreso than GABA which sometimes people with anhedonia prefer. Sometimes the extra stimulus from the adrenals is nice for a bit.

Brain: Specific drugs that work to lower serotonin and/or raise dopamine. Lisuride, metergoline, bromantane. However I agree with lucas in starting with something like Myo Inosital first due to less contraindications and fewer side effects.

Also not to add too much - I did really like CBG. I’m not sure how many others would share in that opinion but I think I recall Lucas also saying he found CBG beneficial in helping with Anhedonia after a couple days of use.

Yes! I found him talking about it on another forum!

The reason why I decided to try CBG extract was based on ONE finding:

“Evidence that the plant cannabinoid cannabigerol is a highly potent α2-adrenoceptor agonist and moderately potent 5HT1A receptor antagonist”
(
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2823359/)

This caught my attention because as you know, Cyproheptadine is ALSO a 5-HT1A antagonist !!

Now here’s where it gets super interesting:

When I acutely dose CBG orally (Between 10-40mg), I remember the first day I tried it, feeling heightened energy and stimulation. I was generally in a good mood.

But that’s NOT what I was looking for.

Remember, the whole goal here is to alleviate my messed up 5-HT1A signalling that causes PSSD-like symptoms.

That night after dosing, I slept very average, and for the first time in years I woke up at like 3-4am HUNGY!!!

I rarely wake up hungry like that.

This effect has continued.

So after continuous dosing, I quickly noticed something rather spectacular.

My PSSD symptoms disappear about 10-12 hours after dosing CBD… As in, when it “wears off” I feel my orgasm return full strength and penis to brain connection return again.

So now I am trying to dertermine whether or not I can use CBG as a form of “re-set” instead of Cyproheptadine to help my condition.

So far so good, and only time will tell how long this rebound lasts.

Some other effects about CBG:
CBG can activate alpha α2 adrenergic receptors and block CB1 receptors (Cascio et al., 2010), suggesting CBG does have therapeutic potential in the treatment of depression.

Bro I appreciate this so much, I saved this comment in my notes. I’'l look more into the things you’ve mentioned. I’m currently working on fixing my gut by eliminating all foods I might be sensitive to, then I’ll slowly incorporate some of these supplements. it’s been 3 years I just want some sort of relief. Thanks for your comments man

Anytime! Happy to hop on a call too and get more of an idea of what else could help!

I just used proviron and nothing else.

Clomid messes with your mood.

Have you tried Ginkgo? Helps me for short while before fizzle out. I think it’s because some studies found it also upregulates 5ht2c. Decreased cerebral 5-HT1A receptors during ageing: reversal by Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb 761) - PubMed

yes I have, I felt like it helped about 10% but every time I took Ginkgo it increased my brain fog. thanks tho for the suggestion and link bro I appreciate it

Try lots of L Tyrosine.
