I keep wakung up at 2am everynight. So hard to get back to sleep. Research I have done something tondo with blood sugar regulation at night and having high cortisol at this time? Anyone know any remedies. I am on a low carb diet.
Yes this certainly sounds like a cortisol spike. 2am - 4am is when cortisol will start to move for most people.
Can I ask some details?
Are you waking with any sweats?
Are you able to get back to sleep?
What supplements are you currently taking?
I’ve personally had this happen to me. Here is what causes this for me.
Creatine. Yes creatine! It messes up my methylation system and causes insane night sweats.
Berberine/Metformin. Both seem to cause a blood sugar dip at night and this spikes cortisol.
Look into any supplements your taking and adjust them.
A low risk supplement to try is phosphatidyl serine. A stronger option is Emodin. Both impact cortisol. Emodin is very powerful.
I hope you get this fixed.
No sweats. Very wired and ready to go. Yeah I can get to sleep but takes me a long time maybe more than an hour.
Supplements I am taking:
Creatine, Tudca, d3 +k2 (thorne), cistanche, b complex. Low does of these but can give more details if you want.
I also am on a low carb - no carb carnivore style diet. But had these issues before I started.
I have high insulin which is why I swapped to this diet and am exercising everyday.
You may have methylation issues? That B complex. Is it methylated B vitamins?
Have you done a gene test at all?
I use to take creatine/b complex. I was having trash sleep and very anxious. After seeing my genes I quit those and feel much better.
Worth stopping them for a week and take note on how you feel and your sleep quality?
This the b im using.
Yeah, I may stop everything and see if it goes back to the norm.
I have not done a gene test. Any you recommend. Im from melbourne, Australia.
